On December 18, an important and emotionally powerful event titled “Abkhazia is Georgia” was held at the Georgian-American High School, once again reaffirming the school’s mission: to raise a generation with national identity, historical memory, and civic responsibility.

As part of the event, our school’s director, Mamuka Meskhishvili, met with the invited guest, Beso Chubinidze, a participant in the Abkhazian war, who fought for Georgia’s territorial integrity at the age of 17. The guest shared his personal experiences and the story of the Georgian flag, which he never parted with during the battles and which became a symbol of loyalty and perseverance for him.

The event was organized by primary-level teacher Sopho Tediashvili, and the participants were her fourth-grade students.

The significance of the event was further enriched by the active involvement of fathers, who participated alongside their children and helped create an important intergenerational connection.

The meeting was followed by an emotional continuation, when Beso Chubinidze introduced participants to children of their age who were not born in Georgia, yet sincerely express their love for Georgia and Abkhazia.

Such meetings once again demonstrate that the Georgian-American High School is a space for values-based education.
