The International Movement for Leisure Activities in Science and Technology (MILSET – Mouvement International pour le Loisir Scientifique Et Technique) is a non-governmental, non-profit and politically independent youth organisation, which aims at developing scientific culture among young people through the organisation of science-and-technology programmes, including science fairs, science camps, congresses and others activities of high quality. Mission and Objectives MILSET supports its member organisations to engage youth in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) through motivation, cooperation, collaboration, and networking.

I-FEST, the International Festival of Engineering Science and Technology in Tunisia, is a 9-day-festival organized by ATAST, the Tunisian Association for the future of Science and Technology, open for all students and supervisors aged between 14-24, and even parents and professors. It’s divided into two main parts. First one is, the I-STC, the International Science and Technology Camp, where all participants get the chance to get rid of boredom, have fun, and even create. Second one is, the I-TSEF, the International Science and Technology Engineering Fair, which is a scientific competition in different areas that shall improve and develop the young scientists’ skills and show how innovative they can be, not to mention its rewarding prizes. All of this, encourages them to apply their imagination and their creativity to technology innovations.

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an educational simulation and academic activity in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches participants speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.

In 1993 the representatives of Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest and the State University of Belarus, Minsk decided to organize together a conference for 14-18 year-old secondary school students.
The aim of the organizers with organizing such a new type of a competition was to acquaint secondary school students with the methods of scientific research, taking into consideration the following steps such as establishment of purpose perform research, develop a hypothesis, analyze results.
The first ICYS was in Visegrád in 1994. The Conference every year becomes richer, new countries join to the competition. During the years students from the following countries have participated in the Conference: Belarus, Czech Republic, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, The Netherlands, Ukraine, United States of America, Hungary, Lithuania, Brazil, Croatia, Indonesia, Turkey, Iran, Thailand, Nigeria, China, Korea, Malaysia, Serbia, Taiwan.
International competitions play an important role in the education of highly talented secondary school students opening new possibilities to extend their knowledge in sciences.
There are many types of competitions, the International Conference of Young Scientists (ICYS) is a special type of individual competition, in physics, mathematics, computer science and ecology for 14-18 year-old secondary school students. Every participant has to prepare a research report on a subject chosen by herself/himself from any part of the above mentioned sciences. The language of these fifteen-minute reports is English. Extra time for the preparation may be allowed by the head of the jury.
An international jury evaluates and rewards the presentations.
Every year generally 60-70 presentations are delivered in 4 section on the Conference. This kind of competitions has importance in teaching the students:
to do research work,
to present and discuss their own results,
to formulate research reports,
to give presentation in foreign languages.
The presentations shall be divided according to the following categories:
The presentations shall reflect the results of research that is dominantly achieved by the presenter alone or in collaboration with other school students.
On the date of the opening (ceremony) of the Conference the students have not entered any kind of higher education nor will their age exceed 20 years.
Every team is formed only by representatives of the countries and consists of two team leaders and no more than six students. There are four presentations from one delegation.
Georgian – American High School has participated in ICYS since 2005.
International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is a major international academic competition held annually and the only international academic competition that covers physics, chemistry and biology at the same time. The competition is known for its intricacy as it requires a wide knowledge range in all three sciences. Top students from each country are selected to the competition and each get a chance to compete with their counterparts from across the globe.
Georgian-American High School participates in it since 2016.
International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), founded in 1950, the world’s largest international science competition, annually provides a forum for more than 1,500 high school students from about 70 countries to showcase their independent research.
A chance to attend the ISEF is given to the participants of ISEF-affiliated regional and state fairs from which the best win the opportunity to attend ISEF. (Georgian- American High School is an only Intel ISEF-affiliated regional fair in the country).
The ISEF unites these young scientific minds, showcasing their talent on an international stage, enabling them to submit their work to judging by doctoral level scientists – and providing the opportunity to compete for over $3 million in prizes and scholarships. Participants are judged on their creative ability and scientific thought, as well as the thoroughness, skill, and clarity shown in their projects.
The annual results of ISEF are published in media outlets as varied as The New York Times, CNN, Forbes magazine, ABC World News, The Washington Post, and local television stations and newspapers around the world.

The Gordon E. Moore Award
This $75,000 top award of the ISEF is provided to the top Best in Category project. (Gordon Moore co-founded Intel Corporation in 1968, serving as president as well as Chairman of the Board before his retirement in 1997. With degrees in chemistry and physics from University of California, Berkeley (B.S.) and Caltech (Ph.D.), Moore is widely known for “Moore’s Law.”
Intel Foundation Young Scientist Awards Intel and SSP will present $50,000 awards to two Best in Category projects.
Dudley R. Herschbach SIYSS Award (R. Herschbach, Harvard Professor and 1986 Nobel Laureate in chemistry). An all-expense-paid trip enables three Finalists to attend the Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar (SIYSS) which includes attendance at the Nobel Prize ceremonies, in Stockholm, Sweden.
European Union Contest for Young Scientists An all-expense-paid trip enables attendance at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists – located in a new city each year.
Intel Best of Category Awards Best of Category Winners are provided a $5,000 scholarship.
ISEF Grand Awards Four finalists are awarded of some amount of money in each of the 17

Georgian-American High School has been an only ISEF affiliated organization in Georgia since 2005. Since then the school has taken part in International Science and Engineering Fair several times: Phoenix, Arizona, 2005; Indiana, Indianapolis, 2006; New Mexico, Albuquerque, 2007 May, Atlanta, Georgia 2008.
Participating in a science fair can be a very rewarding experience. It is the culmination of conducting an independent research project and provides valuable feedback as you continue your scientific pursuits. However, careful planning and consideration of the rules to ensure the safety of the student researcher and any research subjects is critical to this success.
Mu Alpha Theta
Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society with 93,300 student members in June 2012 in more than 1950 schools . The Mu Alpha Theta National High School and Junior College Mathematics Club was founded in 1957 by Dr. and Mrs. Richard V. Andree at the University of Oklahoma.
Since 2003 Georgian-American High School is a member of Mu Alpha Theta.
Mu Alpha Theta achieves these goals by:
Providing a method for schools to recognize and encourage those students who enjoyand excel in mathematics.
Organizing a national convention for students and teachers to participate in math-related events and interact with others from across the country.
Rewarding outstanding extracurricular achievement by offering special awards to both students and their faculty advisors.
Providing mathematics competitions to participating members at their own school through the Log 1 Contest, the Rocket City Math League, and the Mathematical Minutes Video Contest.

Georgian-American High School is the first and only school in the Caucasus Region who is an official Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta from 2005. The enables the students of our school to become members of this society, use the materials offered for additional learning and also participate in different competitions expressing their knowledge. Our school has been especially successful in Log 1 contest, every year since 2005, Georgian-American High School has earned a place in the best few as a school and individuals students as well.
The Log 1 Contest provides an excellent opportunity for a school to participate in a competition similar to our National Convention contests and compete against schools from across the country and the world. The Log 1contest consists of three testing rounds. The first round includes two
Topic Tests. Students may take either the \”Logs & Exponents\” or the \”Matrices\” Test. The second round includes a second set of Topic Tests. Students may either take the \”Sequences & Series\” or the \”Geometry\” Test. The third round will be an Individual Test of general mathematics on level appropriate topics. All tests will be 15 open answer questions to be completed in 30 minutes without the use of a calculator. Each student test score will be scaled to account for varying test difficulty.
Mathematical Minutes Video Contest.
Mu Alpha Theta is continuing its Presentation Contest under a new name, the Mathematical Minutes Video Contest, beginning this school year (2012-2013). The contest asks members to create educational and entertaining videos. Get together with a few friends from your math club, pick a math topic, and create a fun, five-minute, informative video.Videos should not exceed 5 minutes in length. Videos should teach a lesson in an interesting or innovative way. Audio must be understandable. Images must be clear and relevant to the topic.
TOEFL Test Center
Georgian-American High School is the only school in Georgia which obtained the license of ETS (Educational Testing Service) to hold TOEFL IBT, GMAT, GRE, PREXIS, TOEIC exams for any interested candidates. (License N STN 20072A).
Georgian team, comprised of six students returned home with golden medal from Indonesia (Bali).
Ketevan Topchishvili and Natali Nozadze earned the first place in Mathematics section for the topic: “Space Diagonal Equation of Perfect Cuboid”. The competition this year was very intense since XX conference involved more than two hundred students from 24 countries.
This award is the number fifth golden medal for our school, which has participated in the conference since 2004. We have earned golden medals in Holland (K. Glonti), Poland (L. Latsoshvili, G. Kukhalashvili), Germany (L. Meskhishvili, G. Mikadze), and Urkaine (L. Meskhishvili) conferences.
As always, the conference was brilliantly organized and Georgian-American High School is thankful to the hosts and organizers of the conference.
Czech Republic 2013
International Conference for Student Research Projects EU Contest was held in Prague in September, 2013. Ketevan Topchishvili will be representing our country this year.
Her research project was the winner in the contest “Me – Young Scientist” organized by “Open Society – Georgia”.
School administration hopes that Ketevan will have success as the school did in Finland 2011 (I. Saralidze), Slovakia 2012 (Ts. Mamalashvili, B. Chkhartishvili).
XXI International Conference of Young Scientists was held in Belgrade, Serbia this year. Georgian team was comprised of seven students of our school and one student of our Vake branch school. They represented four project works. Traditionally the conference was brilliantly organized. The hosts arranged an interesting sightseeing tour for the participants. The group was immensely impressed by the orthodox churches of Saint Sava and Saint Mark.
Excursions at Avalla TV tower and a boat tour at river Danube were incredible. Georgian team has successfully represented a project work in Mathematics section and got the first place. They earned two silver and one bronze medals at the conference. 124 students of 18 countries were represented at the conference.

The team departed for Belgrad through Istanbul. That is why, the principle of our school Mr. Mamuka organized a sightseeing tour in Istanbul. The participants saw two major sightseeings – Hagia Sophia Church and Topkapi Palace of Sultans.
USA. California 2014
Team of Georgia, which consisted of Delegation from Georgian-American high school as well as the winners of competition ‘leondardo da Vinci’ participated in the prestigious International Scientific – Engineering Fair, which was held on 9-16 May in the city of Los Angeles.
Georgian American High School has revealed the finalist – Natalie Chumburidze who represented an exciting and important project in Biology.
At the end of the exhibition, the contestants visited Los Angeles sights, traveled to Hollywood, Santa – Monica, they also visited the Grammy theatre and a Nokia museum.
Founded in 1950, the Intel ISEF-International Scientific – Engineering exhibition is the world’s biggest contest in which more than 1500 students from 70 countries take part. Young scientists compete with each other to represent interesting and original scientific – engineering works.
The students of Georgian – American high school has participated in Intel ISEF-exhibition since 2005. The most successful year was 2007, New York – Mexico contest, when Lado Meskishvili was rewarded with the Special Prize of the American Mathematical Society in his scientific work“Recurrent Relation of Congruum Equation Solutions” Apart from this the project team winners were George Kukhalashvili, Nick Gigashvili and George Benashvili Gigashvili with their groupwork“New class of Diophantine Equations with Infinitely many Solutions “ They deserved the IV prize in team project section.
