About School
Georgian-American High School of Tbilisi, established in 2003, is private co-educational day school. The school was established to provide an American education to students from the local and international community of Tbilisi. Its aim is to deliver an international education of the highest quality.
Georgian-American High School is situated in a quiet residential area in the center part of the city close to Metro (underground) station. It has a split site location but the two buildings are very close to each other. The facilities on both sites have been extensively improved and developed during the past three years providing a stimulation and well resourced environment for the pupils. In the Secondary department specialized facilities include an information technology room, library and design room, laboratories and gymnasium.





The school’s academic curriculum is international throughout. The three International Baccalaureate Organization programs, the Diploma (Grades 10, 11 and 12), the Middle Years (grades 6 through 9) and the Primary Years (Kindergarten through Grad 5), are offered. Middle Years Program Certificates are awarded at the end of Grade 9 and both the full IB Diploma and the school’s own GAHS Graduation Diploma is awarded at the end of Grade 12. Students can also sit College Board tests including SAT, TOEFL and Cambridge FCE.
GAHS is accredited by the Georgian Ministry of education. Our school is an official representative in Georgia of following International Conferences: INTEL ISEF and ICYS. The INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair (INTEL ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science competition, provides an annual forum for more than 1,500 high school students from over 50 countries, to showcase their independent research. The INTEL ISEF is the premiere global science competition for students in grades 9-12, which is held every year in different American states. International Conference of Young Scientists (ICYS) is a special type of individual competition, in physics, mathematics, computer science and ecology for 14-18 year-old secondary school students which held in various countries of Europe. Preparations for these Conferences are the main part of the school’s annual plan. GAHS’s students systematically succeeded in both conferences.
The student body is 95% Georgian and pupils usual enter the school at the age of three.
The teaching staff is experienced and certified in their grade level or subject area. Most of them have advanced degrees.
The school’s academic year starts in September and ends in June with customary breaks for holidays in each season. The daily timetable starts at 09:30 and ends at 16:00. The school has a wide-range of extra-curricular activities.
